Who is at Risk?
The answer to this question is EVERYONE! Everyone is at risk of being sexually assaulted. There is a common misconception that women are the only one's that are sexually assaulted and that men are the only ones that are doing the assaulting. This in not true, both men and women are at risk of being sexually assault. And both men and women can assault others. Although everyone is at risk, RAINN (Rape Abuse and Incest National Network) has listed certain statistics showing patterns one who could be at more risk.
Age:
15 percent of assaults occur in ages 12 and under.
29 percent of assaults occur in ages 12 to 17.
44 percent of assaults occur in ages under 18.
80 percent occur in ages under 30.
Girls ages 16 through 19 are four times more likely to be sexually assaulted.
1 out of 6 women have been victim of assault or attempted assault in her lifetime
1 out of 33 men have been victim of assault or attempted assault in his lifetime
